One of PS5X's headline features is local multiplayer for up to four players. Because PS5 games were built around the DualSense, the port maps every DualSense-specific input onto Xbox controllers and headsets. Here is exactly how it works.
| DualSense feature (PS5) | PS5X mapping on Xbox |
|---|---|
| Touchpad | Mapped to the Xbox controller — used where a game expects swipe / tap touchpad input |
| Motion sensors (gyro / accelerometer) | Mapped to Xbox controller motion input |
| Adaptive triggers | Emulated through Xbox trigger resistance where supported |
| Haptic feedback | Translated to Xbox controller vibration |
| Built-in speaker | Routed to the headset connected to the Xbox controller |
| Microphone | Routed through the headset microphone |
| Button labels | Standard Xbox mapping: A = Cross, B = Circle, X = Square, Y = Triangle |
PS5X's local multiplayer lets multiple players share one Xbox Series X in Developer Mode, using connected Xbox controllers. The fork's own changelog shows local co-op as a first-class feature — not a hack.
This is couch co-op, not Xbox Live / PSN online play. Each player needs an Xbox controller; the emulator maps them all. Expect the same experimental stability as the rest of PS5X.
